Earlier this month, the Senate passed legislation to establish a Commission to provide oversight of the NDIS. We're pleased to share that today, Social Services Minister, Christian Porter, has announced the appointment of Mr Graeme Head as Commissioner of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Quality and Safeguards Commission.

The role of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission will be to respond to complaints  and reports of abuse or neglect, provide advice on issues including the use of physical restraints, and assist with building capacity for participants and providers.

Libby Burns, HenderCare's National Disability & Allied Health Services Manager, said that this was an important step for the NDIS. "As a Registered NDIS Provider, we understand the importance of having clear processes for participants to resolve any issues. Having a national Commission will give everyone a clear point of contact."

"For HenderCare, the Commission will provide consistent and clear guidelines to ensure that we effectively support participants."

"Having a Commission dedicated to ensuring NDIS participants are receiving the best possible care really speaks to what the NDIS is all about," she said.
