Introducing Australian Schools Plus

  • 2 mins

As part of HenderCare Foundation’s ongoing support of the community, every year, two charitable organisations receive significant donations through a relationship between HenderCare Foundation and the Morialta Trust.

The Foundation is proud to sponsor the HenderCare Foundation Remote Communities Grant and the HenderCare Foundation Disability Grant.

We are proud to introduce the recipient of the most recent HenderCare Foundation Disability Grant, Australian Schools Plus.

Australian Schools Plus is a national not-for-profit that provides Australian children with the educational opportunities they need to thrive at school and beyond. By taking a place-based approach, Australian Schools Plus works with schools to implement initiatives that target the specific needs of children in their community.

Australian Schools Plus’ mission is to close the education gap caused by disadvantages and ensure that all young Australians reach their potential through access to a great education.

Since 2015, Schools Plus has provided learning opportunities to over 500,000 students across Australia!

The grant from the HenderCare Foundation will enable Australian Schools Plus to support Errington Special Education Centre (located in metropolitan Adelaide), which educates 110 students with an intellectual disability, including 60% who are non-verbal.

The funding will enable the school to purchase a range of specialised equipment designed to help students with severe intellectual disabilities and complex needs increase their activity levels and develop sensory-motor skills, to support learning.

We are very excited to see Australian Schools Plus use the grant to help the children at Errington Special Education Centre. We will bring you more updates throughout the year!
