The Australian Government’s Department of Health recognises that many Home Care Package (HCP) consumers are currently experiencing increased levels of social isolation due to COVID-19.
HCP consumers are now able to utilise their HCP funding to help provide technology to ensure they feel safe and socially connected in their homes when self-isolating.
For consumers who want to use the technology to stay socially connected to their loved ones, the funding can also go towards training to ensure the consumer is comfortable using technology such as video conferencing and other digital technology including tablets and similar devices.
It is important that the technology and the assistance provided through the technology meets your requirements. All care and services funded must be reflected in your Care Plan and connected to an assessed care need.
