What’s Changing?
There are several important updates in this year’s guide. Firstly, the NDIS has extended the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) age range to include children up to 9 years old, instead of just 7. This gives families more time to access vital early supports before transitioning to other services.
Support worker prices are also rising by around 3.9% to 4%, following the national minimum wage increase and superannuation changes. This includes adjustments for disability support work, nursing, and support coordination.
Some therapy rates have gone down, with physiotherapy now priced at $183.99 per hour. Psychology services now have a nationally consistent rate of $232.99, which is a small increase in some states and a slight drop in others.
There are also new rules for travel and admin costs. Providers can now only claim up to 50% of the hourly rate for travel time.
Why These Changes Matter
The NDIA says the changes aim to ensure the scheme remains financially sustainable while still meeting participants’ needs. For participants, this means your plans will likely be automatically updated in mid-July to reflect the new pricing, where you are affected. If you’re agency- or plan-managed, your providers must stick to the updated price limits.
For self-managed participants, you can still negotiate your prices, but the new price guide is a helpful benchmark to keep in mind.
What You Can Do
It’s a good idea to speak with your support coordinator or plan manager to review how your current services fit into the updated pricing. Some services may cost more, others less, so making sure your funding still covers your goals is important.
