HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to recognise when someone is unconscious and not breathing normally (Cardiac Arrest) and increases their chance of survival by calling an ambulance and performing potentially lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including a defibrillator until emergency services arrive to take over.
The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and applies to all workers or members of the community who may be required to provide CPR in the event of an emergency.

Course Delivery and Assessment Requirements
The course consists of an online component followed by a 45-minute face-to-face practical assessment. Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written (online) and practical assessment tasks. Practical assessments are conducted in small groups of 2-4 participants with measures in place to manage COVID-19 risks.
Performance tasks and Practical scenarios
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Perform CPR on an adult (including the use of an AED)
A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
You must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
You must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/pre-course study before attending the face-to-face session.
