Supported Independent Living (SIL)

	Household tasks	Cleaning and tidying around the home, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, wiping down surfaces, and garden maintenance.
	Personal care	Assistance with showering, dressing, eating, transfers and positioning.
	Community support	One-on-one social outings or help to connect with your community.
	Life skills development	We support the development of skills to promote your independence.
	Nursing and complex care	We have Registered Nurses on staff who can provide assistance with a range of medical needs including ventilator and tracheostomy management, PEG feeding, medication management and implementing behaviour management guidelines.
	Meal preparation	Assistance planning, preparing, and cooking meals on your behalf or to assist you.
	Shopping	Assistance at the shops or we can complete the shop for you.
	Transport	Transport to and from medical appointments and social outings.
	Equipment and technology	We help source the right equipment to make your life more comfortable.

Supported independent living (SIL) provides tailored living arrangements and support for people who need help with daily tasks but still want independence. SIL involves trained staff assisting with household tasks, personal care, life skills development and household management within a shared or individual living setting.

HenderCare’s independent living services under SIL include assistance with daily living — such as personal care, meal preparation, cleaning and household maintenance — along with support for social participation, budgeting, and skill development to help participants live as independently as possible.

 In Australia, individuals with a disability who have an approved plan that funds SIL can access SIL independent living supports. Eligibility typically requires that the support need cannot be met solely through regular home care, and that residential-based support is appropriate for the person’s needs.
