With a focus on supporting children, aged two to 12, our Play Therapy service can help children living with a disability better express themselves and learn to cope with difficulties.
Play Therapy offers children living with a disability, learning difficulties or other social or cognitive challenges, an opportunity to better express, process and master their emotions through play. Play Therapy can also be used to address specific therapeutic goals such as relationship enhancement, social skill development and assist in self-regulation.
At HenderCare, we understand the benefits of Play Therapy and work with children, aged two to 12, to develop bespoke play-based solutions to help them and their families feel supported, happy and confident.
Led by a qualified Early Childhood Educator with a Master’s in Child Play Therapy, and a mother herself, HenderCare’s Play Therapy service takes into account the child's individual developmental, physical and cognitive needs.
After assessing the individual needs of the child, our Play Therapist will formulate therapeutic goals and develop a program utilising non-directive and/or directive Play Therapy modalities.
The following Play Therapy modalities may be utilised:
Our Play Therapy sessions are held at the same time and on the same day each week to help your child feel secure and depending on the needs of your child, the sessions may either be in a private or group setting.
Play Therapy does not require a referral from a GP or specialist.
