What are CHSP services and how do they work?

  • 1 min

Do you know what CHSP is? Did you know that we provide our own CHSP services, and CHSP services for some councils?

CHSP stands for Commonwealth Home Support Programme and is a service that offers entry-level services for those who are 65 years or older (or 50 years or older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), providing support with tasks in and around the home.

These tasks can include:

  • Cleaning
  • Shopping support (including shop by list and pharmacy pick up)
  • Gardening (safety-related)
  • Phone call/telehealth check-ins
  • Home modifications
  • Planned respite care

At HenderCare, CHSP is currently available to clients in:

New South Wales

  • Northern Sydney
  • Inner West

Victoria

  • Southern Metro
  • Western Metro

ACT (state-wide)

CHSP services are so important for clients to provide them with that sense of independence and comfort, knowing they are able to stay in their own home, just with that added level of support and care.

It allows so many older Australians to continue to stay socially connected and active, maintaining a level of connection with their local community.
