To help celebrate and recognise the importance of IDPWD 2021, here at HenderCare, we wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the amazing work the ABC is doing to champion the stories of those living with a disability, not just today but through November and into December.
The stories told through television shows, podcasts and radio shows, are available on your mobile phone, tablet or smart tv. The ABC have also put together a Spotify playlist to showcase artists living with a disability and podcasts with transcripts available for those with hearing issues.
We also love the ABC’s commitment to engaging and collaborating with the disability community on this program; they put a call out for content ideas from those living with a disability and have worked with them to share these personal stories. Included in this run will be the return of a favourite format, ‘Re-Frame’, which offers a selection of short films created by, and including those living with a disability. You can check it out here.
A favourite of ours is the curated Spotify playlist by ABC Radio, which features artists living with a disability- click here to listen.
Having a day such as IDPWD is incredibly important to ensure recognition and acknowledgement of the talent that those living with a disability have in our communities, but it is equally important that this continues all year round and we continue to provide opportunities and open those doors for all individuals.
