National Child Protection Week 2022

This week is National Child Protection Week (NCPW) here in Australia.

Running between Sept 4 and 10, this year’s theme is ‘Every child, in every community, needs a fair go’.

As a provider of care to vulnerable children and young people at HenderCare Foundation, we feel passionately that children and young people thrive when they are allowed to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.

Under the Foundation, we deliver stable environments and work off a trauma-informed, therapeutic model of care.

The Foundation’s Residential Care Manager, Tyson, shared why he believes it is important for this week to be recognised by the community, “this week brings to light the importance of the role that all agencies play in providing the daily care of our Young People, and the positive impact we make on their lives.”

At the Foundation, we cannot thank our amazing team of care workers enough for the incredible level of compassion, empathy and dedication that they deliver to children and young people in care.

However, protecting children goes beyond the role of agencies and expands well beyond a week; as good community members, we can all play an active role in protecting our wonderful kids.

The National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN), the peak body behind NCPW, has put together several resources to help communities and individuals navigate the best ways to provide support and safety to vulnerable children.
