Caring Christmas for many families 01/12/2018

While most of us will be taking a break and tucking into the turkey and mince pies over Christmas, thousands of Australians will be working throughout the holidays including an army of carers providing vital support to people at a time when it’s most needed.

At HenderCare, we have a record team of 500 South Australian carers working in family homes between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day to provide vital services and assistance to people with disabilities and their families.

Christmas can be a stressful time for families so additional support for a family member with a disability can make all the difference, with demands for carers during the festive season extremely high.

For mother Kristy Camin, care for her nine-year-old daughter Hayley who lives with cerebral palsy will not only help relieve some of the pressure over Christmas but also allow her to enjoy the first New Year’s Eve out with her husband in 18 years.

Kristy says care funding from the National Disability Insurance Scheme has changed their lives.

HenderCare carer Kelly Weaver will work with Hayley over the Christmas period to help her with daily living tasks like meals, showering, taking medicine, dressing and other personal care activities.

Nationally HenderCare is providing thousands of hours of care to families across the festive period.

We encourage any clients looking for services during this time to contact us on 1300 764 433. We never close and have coordinators available to assist 24/7.

Wishing all our clients and friends a wonderful and safe festive period.
